Confirmed: Wikia Search launched Monday

Wikia Search
The project Wikia Search, was referred to as "the murderer of Google", will soon be available in alpha mode. This was written by Jimmy Wales Wikia Search mailing list. In its letter dated December 24, stated that on Monday(From the author. Not quite clear what, but apparently the 7th of January.) will be available the first public preview version of a new search engine.
Wikiabook
Wikia Search relies on the ability of users to determine the level of importance of web pages; the system also will allow users to edit the search results like Mahalo.

It is obvious that the Wikia search was combined with another search project Grub, acquired by Wikia Search in July 2006. Grub uses distributed computing power of users-volunteers for indexing web pages.

Jimmy Wales, well known as one of the founders of Wikipedia, has high hopes that the project Wikia Search will press the other search engines. But he is careful not to call out loud the name of Google.

Still, I think it would be easy enough at first glance to determine whether the system is seen to be attractive enough to become one of the leading players in the market of search engines, or her fate is the fate of a convenient auxiliary tool, such as Wikipedia or Mahao(or worse, its place in a number of useless systems).
