PowerToFly — remote job search for women

hi, Habr.

In recent time, several times raised the topic of employment of the fair sex in the IT field. At the request of my friend I want to tell you about the start PowerToFly.

imageProject invented by women (Milena Berry and Katharine Zalesky on the left) for women, with the support of investors, they started a startup, including something like Sots.network for women around the world and sites to search for remote employees.

So, PowerToFly solves 2 interrelated problems: on the one hand, helps companies that appeal to them, to find qualified employees in the IT areas, remote work, and on the other helps to find a job to girls, who for one reason or another choose to work remotely.

And the reasons can be very different in the first place is a pregnant girls, mothers with young children (one of the founders, Milena — a mother of three children). Another category, which positioned the company are women in the middle East, which is simply forbidden to work. In General, the reasons to work remotely can be very different.

Remarkably, the startup team only consists of girls, most of whom work remotely.

At this time the project is in alpha version, much work remains, but it is already possible to register so-called “Talent” to complete your profile in which to contribute their skills. The functionality of the job yet, but customers can register, view profiles and hire suitable talent. Now PowerToFly is working with large companies, such as VirginMobiles, Hearst, and RebelMouse, WashingtonPost, MeeLocal, Avaaz and others.

Although the project is still in the beginning of his career — already have actually employed girls, and the geography is vast — from Australia to Canada, but most girls from Russia, Ukraine and India.

A necessary condition for employment is knowledge of English (at least Intermediate level). PowerToFly helps the employees to develop "on Board" free courses both professional and conversational English.
